New College Lanarkshire Library

As the graded unit module in HND Architectural
Technology, I was tasked with
presenting a proposal for a central library
building for the three colleges under
the New College Lanarkshire banner.
There was a chose in site, one being out
of the centre of Glasgow and one adjoining
Glasgow Central train station. For
me the chose in site was easy, as close
to the centre as possible as most students
would come in via train.
The Proposal I put forward was a four storey
Library, research and café building.
This consisted of three library and research
floors and a ground floor designated
to the general public and exhibitions.
The Structure was comprised of steel
beams as it would give the best structural
properties. This was also the first time I
had designed on a scale larger than a
four bedroom domestic dwelling, giving
me new challenges in completing the
design.
