Brackla Harbour
As a Final year project for third year, the
university was approached by the owner
of Loch Ness by Jacobite Cruises directly
to provide a proposal for a covered
waiting area for the Brackla Harbour area.
However a private function and hireable
space was required in addition to
be considered challenging enough for a
degree project.
This project was run as a
competition in the year group as one
would be selected to be built on the site.
This was an individual project but as a
year group we guided each other in area
where there was confusion.
The Proposal I put forward was a very
simple design for the shelter. The main
emphasis was one creating a flow thro
the space give the guests an opportunity
to see and read about the Loch before
their boat trip.
The Building proposal was split into two
parts. The overall space required were a
recording studio for local musical artists,
an art studio for local artists and a function
space for the owner to hold important
meetings and guests.
Having considered the noise associated
with a recording studio, I elected to create
two separate but related building.
one holding the function space and the
art studio and one housing the recording
studio exclusively.
