The fourth and final project to gain my Honours Degree was to provide a proposal for a project of our choice.

I chose a site on the University of the Highlands and Islands campus as it is still under development, meaning that there is a chance to affect the way the campus will look in the future.

Having chosen to work on a particular site, I wanted to design a building that i had interest in. This being sports and exercise in general. From this I made the decision to provide a proposal for a sports training center for Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club to integrate them into the city. In order to also include the community around the Inverness area, I proposed this could also be used for general usage by the public.

The main concern of the design was to create a facility that, first and foremost, the football club would benefit from while taking advantage of the views from the selected site to the west. In terms of the appearance, there are very few building around that changed the way the building would look, this made it more down to me to design a appropriate building.

The main inspiration was taken from the existing main University building, which is clad in RAL 9001 Rockpanel cladding.

The internal design looks to blur the lines between the professional football team and the public using the same building. This is achieved by designating the same changing and cafeteria spaces for everyone. However, the professional team has the south wing on the first floor designated as private so that they can properly prepare and recover from games. Within this wing is a gym allowing for weight and cardio work, a recovery space with tables and equipment for treating players from massages to minor injuries and a office for the manager and coaching staff to work and host meetings.
